Twitter has started testing ways for users to unmention themselves from tweets.
Until fully rolled out, select users will receive a special notification when someone they don’t follow mentions them in a tweet. If they choose to remove the mention, the author of the tweet will not be able to do it again.
This is in the early development stage, but the social media platform is also testing a variety of ways for you to control who mentions you in their tweets, such as restricting people from mentioning you for 1, 3 or even 7 days.
You never know when you can suddenly go viral so having this option in the future will certainly help control the unexpected when you just want some time away from social media. It’s great to see Twitter giving control to the user.
