Shopify, the largest worldwide eCommerce platform, has seen its Merchants break records, with over £3.8 billion in worldwide sales during Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2020.
This huge revenue number was driven from more than one million Shopify-powered brands across the world.
From 27th November through to 30th December, total sales grew by 76% from the £2.1+ billion reported for Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend in 2019, a record that was surpassed this year on Saturday 28th November.
2020 has been a hugely transformative year for eCommerce globally. Evidence that the trend of ‘Direct to Consumer’ continues to grow whilst the struggle of the high-street continues to descend.
With the centre of gravity in eCommerce shifting from in-store to online, the pandemic has accelerated a change we have long anticipated. This multichannel shopping phenomenon is the blueprint for the future of retail and we couldn’t be more excited by it.
