Sir David Attenborough smashed the Guinness World Record for the fastest Instagram profile to reach one million followers. And they say Instagram is only for young people, right?

It took the legendary broadcaster and naturalist just 4 hours and 44 minutes from his first post to gain one million followers – beating the previous holder, Jennifer Anisten, by 32 minutes. Since then, his followers have increased five-fold.

The 94-year old’s message was clear, “I’m making this move and exploring this new way of communication to me because, as we all know, the world is in trouble.”

Speaking to the BBC, Attenborough said that this record gives him “great hope” that the younger generation are engaged in the battle against climate change.

It just goes to show that, as long as your message is relevant and interesting, people will engage and listen, no matter your age or usual platform.
